3D Rendering for Amazon Listings: The 7-Image Set That Sells

Broad Wave Creations > E-commerce > 3D Rendering for Amazon Listings: The 7-Image Set That Sells

Your Amazon images do much of the selling before a shopper reads a single bullet point. Done well, 3D rendering for Amazon listings gives you a technically perfect main image, consistent secondary images and infographics that explain features at a glance. You don’t need a production sample to make it. This is the structure we use for Amazon clients at Broad Wave Creations.

Main image rules (get these right first)

The main image is the one that appears in search results. Amazon’s requirements are strict here. At the time of writing, the key points are:

  • Pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255).
  • The product fills roughly 85% of the frame.
  • No text, logos added on top, badges, borders or props that are not included in the box.
  • Large enough for zoom: Amazon recommends at least 1,000 px on the longest side. We deliver 2,000–3,000 px square.
  • It must accurately show the product the customer receives.

A render makes the technical side easy: the white is pure, the edges are clean and every colour variant can share the exact same angle and lighting. Note that Amazon’s main-image rules are written around photographs of the actual product and exclude drawings, illustrations and mockups. A render used here must be photoreal and match the real product exactly. Rules differ by category and change over time, so always check the current style guide in Seller Central before uploading.

The 7-image set that does the selling

  1. Main image: hero angle on white, per the rules above.
  2. Key benefit infographic: the one reason to buy, in large readable type, with 3–4 icons at most.
  3. Feature call-outs: a clean render with labelled arrows to the details that justify the price.
  4. Dimensions / scale: measurements on the product, plus a familiar object or a hand for scale.
  5. Exploded view or “what’s inside”: impossible to photograph, and easy in 3D. It builds trust for electronics, tools and appliances.
  6. Lifestyle scene: the product in its real environment (kitchen, desk, bathroom, car).
  7. What’s in the box / variants: all included parts, or the colour range side by side.

Most listings also benefit from a short product video. A 15–30 second 3D animation made from the same model reuses all the work above. See 3D product animation.

Infographic tips that help shoppers decide

  • Design for mobile first. Many shoppers browse on phones, so if the text is unreadable at thumbnail size, it is too small.
  • One message per image. Five claims on one image read as zero.
  • Answer the objections from your reviews. If buyers ask “will it fit?”, the dimensions image should answer that before they ask.
  • Keep the brand system consistent, with the same fonts, colours and icon style across all slots.

Why 3D rendering for Amazon listings beats a photoshoot

  • Launch before stock arrives. Build the full listing from CAD while production is still running.
  • Cheaper variants. New colours are material swaps, not new samples.
  • Consistency across the catalogue, which makes a brand store look professional.
  • A+ Content and ads reuse the same assets, so no extra shoot is needed.

What a 3D Amazon listing set costs

A complete set of 7 images, including the 3D model, main image, infographics and one or two lifestyle scenes, typically costs $650–$1,500 per product with us. The range depends on product complexity and how many lifestyle scenes you need. Each additional colour variant set starts from $250 because the model is reused. Full ranges are on our pricing page, and you can see finished sets on the Amazon listing rendering page.

What we need from you

  • CAD files, or photos from six sides plus key measurements.
  • Colour and material references (Pantone codes or a photo next to a white card).
  • Your logo files and packaging artwork if the box appears.
  • The listing’s top 5 benefits and the most common customer questions.

FAQ

Does Amazon allow 3D renders?

Secondary images such as infographics, exploded views and lifestyle scenes give you the most freedom. The main image is stricter: Amazon’s rules are written around photographs of the actual product and exclude illustrations and mockups, so a render there must be photoreal and exactly match what the buyer receives. Amazon makes the final call, so always check the current style guide for your category.

What size should Amazon images be?

Amazon recommends at least 1,000 px on the longest side so zoom works. We deliver 2,000–3,000 px square images in sRGB JPEG.

How long does a 3D Amazon image set take?

Typically 5–7 working days from receiving files, including one round of feedback on the first images.
